Our Commitment to Safety<\/h4>\n<p>At Gilco Insulation Ltd., the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, contractors, clients, and the public are fundamental to our operations.<\/p>\n<p>We are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, preventing workplace injuries and occupational illnesses, and ensuring that all insulation installation activities are performed safely and professionally.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal is to achieve <strong>zero workplace injuries through proactive hazard identification, proper training, safe work practices, and continuous improvement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We comply with applicable requirements under the British Columbia Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and other relevant safety legislation.<\/p>\n<h4>2. Management Responsibilities<\/h4>\n<p>Management at Gilco Insulation Ltd. is responsible for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing safe working conditions, equipment, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).<\/li>\n<li>Identifying and controlling workplace hazards before work begins.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring employees receive appropriate safety training and supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Conducting regular workplace inspections and addressing unsafe conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining emergency response and first aid procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Investigating workplace incidents and implementing corrective measures.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring compliance with applicable WorkSafeBC requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Encouraging open communication regarding workplace health and safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>3. Employee Responsibilities<\/h4>\n<p>All employees and subcontractors working on behalf of Gilco Insulation Ltd. are expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Follow established safety procedures and applicable workplace regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Wear appropriate PPE for assigned tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Inspect tools, ladders, and equipment before use.<\/li>\n<li>Immediately report unsafe conditions, hazards, injuries, and near misses.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in required safety training and meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain clean and organized work areas.<\/li>\n<li>Never operate equipment without appropriate training or authorization.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid activities that could endanger themselves or others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Workers have the right to refuse unsafe work in accordance with WorkSafeBC requirements.<\/p>\n<h4>4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)<\/h4>\n<p>Employees must use appropriate PPE based on the hazards associated with their assigned work.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the task, required equipment may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CSA-approved safety footwear<\/li>\n<li>Safety glasses or protective goggles<\/li>\n<li>Appropriate work gloves<\/li>\n<li>Hard hats where overhead hazards exist<\/li>\n<li>Respiratory protection where required by exposure assessments, product instructions, or applicable regulations<\/li>\n<li>Hearing protection when exposed to excessive noise<\/li>\n<li>Protective clothing when handling insulation materials<\/li>\n<li>Fall protection equipment where required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Respiratory protection must be selected, fitted, maintained, and used in accordance with applicable requirements.<\/p>\n<h4>5. Insulation Installation Safety<\/h4>\n<p>Insulation work may involve exposure to airborne fibres, dust, chemicals, confined or restricted spaces, elevated work areas, and other construction-related hazards.<\/p>\n<p>Gilco Insulation Ltd. is committed to implementing appropriate safety procedures, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reviewing manufacturer instructions and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), where applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining adequate ventilation during installation activities.<\/li>\n<li>Using appropriate dust-control methods and respiratory protection.<\/li>\n<li>Practising safe lifting and material-handling techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Using ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms safely.<\/li>\n<li>Identifying electrical hazards before working near wiring or electrical equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining safe access and exit routes.<\/li>\n<li>Properly storing and disposing of insulation materials and waste.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Specialized insulation products or application methods requiring additional training, protective equipment, or controls will only be handled by appropriately trained personnel.<\/p>\n<h4>6. Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment<\/h4>\n<p>Before beginning work, employees and supervisors must identify potential workplace hazards and implement appropriate controls.<\/p>\n<p>Hazards may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working at heights<\/li>\n<li>Slips, trips, and falls<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to airborne dust and fibres<\/li>\n<li>Electrical hazards<\/li>\n<li>Manual lifting and repetitive movements<\/li>\n<li>Power tools and equipment<\/li>\n<li>Poor ventilation<\/li>\n<li>Hazardous substances<\/li>\n<li>Working around other construction trades<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Where hazards cannot be eliminated, appropriate engineering controls, administrative procedures, and PPE will be implemented.<\/p>\n<h4>7. Training and Supervision<\/h4>\n<p>Gilco Insulation Ltd. provides appropriate safety orientation, instruction, training, and supervision to ensure workers understand their responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Training may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Workplace hazard awareness<\/li>\n<li>Safe insulation handling and installation<\/li>\n<li>WHMIS and hazardous product safety<\/li>\n<li>Proper PPE selection and use<\/li>\n<li>Ladder and fall protection safety<\/li>\n<li>Emergency response procedures<\/li>\n<li>First aid and incident reporting<\/li>\n<li>Safe equipment operation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Training requirements will be reviewed as work activities, equipment, and regulatory requirements change.<\/p>\n<h4>8. Emergency Preparedness and First Aid<\/h4>\n<p>We are committed to maintaining appropriate emergency procedures and first aid resources at our worksites.<\/p>\n<p>Our procedures include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing first aid equipment and services based on site-specific assessments and applicable WorkSafeBC requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring workers know how to report emergencies.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining accessible emergency exits and evacuation routes.<\/li>\n<li>Establishing procedures for fires, injuries, and hazardous material incidents.<\/li>\n<li>Reporting workplace injuries and incidents as required by law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>9. Incident Reporting and Investigation<\/h4>\n<p>All workplace injuries, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions must be reported promptly to management or the designated supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>Incidents will be reviewed and investigated as required to identify contributing factors and prevent recurrence.<\/p>\n<p>Corrective actions will be implemented and monitored for effectiveness.<\/p>\n<h4>10. Subcontractor and Site Safety<\/h4>\n<p>Gilco Insulation Ltd. expects subcontractors and other personnel under its direction to comply with applicable safety legislation and established site safety procedures.<\/p>\n<p>We will coordinate safety activities with builders, general contractors, site supervisors, and other trades as appropriate to reduce risks associated with simultaneous construction activities.<\/p>\n<h4>11. Continuous Improvement<\/h4>\n<p>We regularly review our safety practices to identify opportunities for improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Employee feedback, workplace inspections, incident investigations, and changes in applicable regulations will help guide improvements to our health and safety program.<\/p>\n<p>We believe that a strong safety culture contributes to better workmanship, greater productivity, and reliable service for our customers.<\/p>\n<h4>12.
